Crystalens

The Crystalens® Accommodating IOL

Dr. Yoon was the first doctor to implant the Crystalens implant in the Rockford area.  It is the only FDA approved accommodating intraocular lens.  The Crystalens mimics the eye's natural mechanism of focusing by changing shape and moving forwards and backward in the eye as you focus on near objects and far.  It is a very flexible silicone lens attached to arms called haptics by a "hinge" which allows movement in the eye.  The quality of vision with this lens is excellent.  It provides excellent intermediate vision which is the vision you use for computers, car dash board, and grocery shopping.  It also provides good reading vision but for long periods of reading and fine print you may need reading glasses.  The advantage of this implant is the excellent quality of vision it provides.  There is a very low incidence of glare and haloes with excellent contrast sensitivity.
